Following a devastating fire at Easter 2025, Queens Sports Club appointed 3P Construct as Principal Contractor to lead the complete restoration and transformation of its historic Halifax facility.
What followed was far more than a refurbishment.
From the initial emergency response, fire and smoke remediation and asbestos removal through to structural repairs, building services, specialist sports facilities and complete interior fit-out, 3P Construct managed a complex, multi-disciplinary programme from start to finish.
The completed project has transformed Queens into a modern, future-proofed sports and leisure destination while protecting its important role at the heart of the local community.

The Objective
The objective was to restore and modernise a fire-damaged sports club through a complete design-and-build solution, creating a high-quality facility capable of meeting the needs of both current and future members.
The scale of the damage meant the project required extensive remediation alongside major construction, mechanical, electrical and fit-out works, all carefully coordinated through a single project team.
The Solution
3P Construct delivered a fully integrated service using our in-house project management team alongside trusted specialist trades.
From emergency response and site stabilisation through to remediation, design, construction, specialist installations, fit-out, commissioning and final handover, 3P Construct provided a single point of responsibility throughout the project lifecycle.

From Fire Damage to a Modern Sports Club
The transformation of Queens Sports Club is particularly striking when viewed against the condition of the building following the fire.
Large areas required stripping back, remediation and rebuilding before the new interiors and specialist facilities could take shape.
The completed club now includes five new squash courts, a state-of-the-art gym, modern hospitality spaces, upgraded building services and improved facilities for members and visitors.
The before-and-after photographs throughout the project demonstrate the scale of the transformation, from stripped-back interiors and damaged sporting spaces to the completed reception, lounge, gym and squash facilities.

A Complex, Multi-Disciplinary Project
The Queens rebuild represents one of the most significant leisure refurbishment projects undertaken by 3P Construct.
Delivering a project of this scale required the coordination of numerous specialist trades while maintaining programme control, quality standards, compliance and clear communication with stakeholders throughout.
The result isn’t simply the restoration of a fire-damaged building. It is the creation of a modern sports and leisure facility designed to serve Queens Sports Club and the Halifax community for many years to come.
