Project Overview
Following a fire and extensive smoke damage, 3P Construct was appointed as Main Contractor to deliver the strip out and restoration works at Queens Sports Club, Halifax. The club was forced to close over Easter 2025, and the project required a sensitive, well-controlled approach to prepare the building safely for reinstatement.
From the outset, 3P Construct demonstrated a prompt, proactive, and professional response. Acting agilely, the team mobilised quickly to establish a full site set-up immediately following handover of the building from the Fire Officer, ensuring the premises were made safe without delay.
Scope of Works
The scope of works included:
- Removal of all fire-damaged timbers
- Full strip out of plasterboard, flooring, and ceilings
- Removal of all electrical and mechanical services
- Specialist cleaning of all smoke-damaged surfaces
- Sealing of all surfaces to permanently eliminate smoke odour
- Removal of all bar services
- Asbestos removal, carried out in full compliance with current regulations
Collaboration & Management
The project was delivered through a positive, planned, and partnership-led approach. 3P Construct worked closely with the Club Committee, Contract Administrator, and Insurers, maintaining clear communication and a transparent programme throughout.
A practical and precise management strategy ensured the works were carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with all compliance and insurance requirements.
Outcome
The project was completed in a professional, prompt, and problem-solving manner, resulting in a fully stripped and remediated building free from smoke contamination. The works have provided a safe and prepared environment, ready for the next phase of reinstatement and supporting the club’s path towards reopening in 2026.
